Donna Paz Kaufman, Trainer & Consultant
- After managing one of the country’s leading bookstore cafes and working in publishing, Donna founded The Bookstore Training Group of Paz & Associates in 1992 with the mission of helping booksellers build skills and insights so that they may lead healthy, life-driven, profitable independent businesses. She holds a business degree and is a certified trainer in customer service and leadership. Donna is a past president of the Women’s National Book Association and is a public library advocate.

- Mark applies his background in human resources, group facilitation, marketing communications, and organization transformation to his work with clients. With an eye for detail and a commitment to excellence, Mark has become one of the industry’s experts on publisher co-op and has worked with our clients to enhance their marketing efforts.

- Liz Dion, Bookstore Architect & Lighting Specialist
- Experienced with commercial and residential design, Liz blends experience in both to create bookstores that function well and convey the sense of ‘Wow’. From funky and fun to classic and elegant, Liz’s objective is to creatively use space to reflect each store’s unique character. Liz and Donna work together to match the right fixtures and sense of place to your bookstore’s mission and community.

- Susan Savory, Opening Inventory Buyer & Kids Books Editor
- With BFA in illustration and a background in professional merchandising as well as bookselling, Susan puts all of these talents to use in the world of books. Susan, now a buyer and children’s department manager at the award-winning Bunch of Grapes Bookstore on Martha’s Vineyard, once owned Shoofly Pie, a children’s specialty store. Her displays are featured in our training video Bookstore Merchandising Made Easy. She helps choose new releases for the newsletter program and helps develop opening inventories for new stores.

From knowing what’s negotiable and what’s not to having a comfort level negotiating with landlords, Gerry is here to work with your best interests at heart.

- Pierre LaPorte, CPA & Business Valuation Specialist
- Pierre is owner of the CPA firm of Courson & Stam and is the accountant in charge of reviewing financial documents to assess the value of a bookstore business. Working with Donna, who assesses the strength of bookstore operations, Pierre develops a price range for the bookstore business for owners and prospective buyers to use in negotiating a transfer of ownership.

- Our team of graphic designers specializes is taking store information and creating logos, personalized customer newsletters, and bookstore marketing materials. Gena Kennedy, Deborah Ballou, John Carvalho, Renee Phillips and Tom Barrett offer their flair for design and knowledge of technology.
